I'm John, an IACP-accredited psychotherapist and counsellor based in Cork city centre, offering individual and couples counselling.
I believe that everyone deserves a space where they feel genuinely heard, understood and supported. My aim is to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, better understand yourself and work through the challenges you may be facing.
At the heart of my approach is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I see counselling as a collaborative process, where we work together at a pace that feels right for you, with your individual needs and experiences guiding our work.
I work integratively, drawing on person-centred therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed approaches. This allows me to tailor our sessions to you, whether you're looking to explore past experiences, navigate present difficulties or develop healthier ways of coping.
I support clients experiencing a range of difficulties, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Loss, grief and bereavement
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Relationship and family difficulties
- Sexuality and LGBTQ+ issues
- Workplace stress and life transitions
- Everyday challenges and emotional wellbeing
Whether you're considering counselling for the first time or returning to therapy, my priority is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself.
